I’ve been trying to find a way to embed widescreen high quality youtube videos easily, (you’ve probably noticed all the youtube videos I’ve been posting.) I developed the bookmarklet below to automate the whole process. The videos I’ve been doing have been 640px wide, but I made a version for 500px as this is the standard video width for tumblr users.

All you need to do is drag the button below to your Bookmarks Bar to install. Once installed, if you go to youtube and click this bookmarklet, it launches a window with some embed code and a link to add to tumblr, all you do is highlight the code, and press the tumblr button, the tumblr blogging page will open and if you choose text, it will automatically have the embed code inserted,  click create post and it will be embed a high quality widescreen version in your blog. That all sounds complex but in practise it takes a couple of seconds.

It’s a little thin for my page but should fit the standard width of an unmodified tumblr page, if you want a different width download the source code and do the extra work yourself.
